Despite the cancellation of the planned live-action Driver TV series, Ubisoft assures fans that other Driver franchise projects are actively under development. Here's the latest update from Ubisoft.
Ubisoft Remains Committed to the Driver Franchise
Ubisoft has officially confirmed to Game File the cancellation of the live-action Driver series. Originally announced in 2021 for exclusive streaming on Binge.com, the project was part of Ubisoft's broader strategy to expand its game franchises into other media. As stated by Ubisoft Film & Television head Danielle Kreinik, the goal was "to bring our games to life in new and exciting ways and create content set in the world, culture, and community of gaming."
However, the collaboration ended due to the closure of Hotrod Tanner LLC, a movie-related subsidiary (named after the Driver protagonist), in January. A Ubisoft spokesperson stated, "We are no longer moving forward with our partnership with Binge for a Driver series."
The good news for Driver fans is that Ubisoft confirmed it is "actively working on other exciting projects related to the franchise." While specifics remain undisclosed, Ubisoft promises future announcements. Stay tuned for more news on upcoming Driver projects!
