Digital Revolution of Devarattam
This application was developed as part of my initiative, "Digital Revolution of Devarattam," and is dedicated to the esteemed artists of this traditional art form.
Kalaimamani Mr. M KUMARARAMAN, a retired teacher, Kalaimani Mr. M KANNAN KUMAR, and Kalaimani Mr. K NELLAI MANIKANDAN from Zamin Kodangipatti have been honored with the KALAIMAMANI, KALAIMANI, and USTAD BISMILLAH KHAN YUVA PURASKAR awards, respectively, for their contributions to Devarattam. I dedicate this app to these legendary figures, my Guru Mr. E RAJAKAMULU, and all the cherished legends of Devarattam. The primary purpose of creating the Devarattam app is to promote awareness of Devarattam and recognize its award recipients. The app provides detailed information about Devarattam and its honorees. Devarattam is a folk dance from Tamil Nadu. Historically and today, it is performed by the Rajakambalathu Nayakkar community. The dance consists of 32 to 72 steps, with 32 being the foundational movements; the additional steps are variations of these basics.
Devarattam dancers hold a kerchief in each hand and wear Salangai (ankle bells) on each leg. They perform the dance while playing a musical instrument known as the Deva Thunthumi.
