Finding Merchantburg (???)
After delivering Black Pepper to the King of Portoga and obtaining your ship, Merchantburg's location will be revealed (northeast corner of the map). Sail west from the coast to reach its easternmost edge.
Optimal Timing for Merchantburg
While orb collection order is flexible, establishing Merchantburg early is recommended. The town's growth takes time, so starting early allows you to pursue other orbs concurrently.
Acquiring the Yellow Orb: A Step-by-Step Guide
- Hire a Merchant: Before heading to Merchantburg, hire a new merchant from PALS in Aliahan. Minimize combat en route to protect your new recruit.

Establish Merchantburg: In Merchantburg's lone building, speak to the old man. He'll need a merchant to found the town—offer your newly hired merchant. Once they settle, the town will receive its name.

Growth and Return Visits:
After establishing Merchantburg, focus on obtaining the Purple Orb (Orochi's Lair) and Blue Orb (Gaia's Navel). You'll receive notifications prompting you to return to Merchantburg as it expands through five stages. Each visit reveals a slightly larger town, culminating in a large cabaret. On your fourth visit, you'll notice growing discontent among the townsfolk towards your merchant.
- The Final Visit (Nighttime):
On your fifth and final visit, go at night. You'll find the merchant missing from their home. The townspeople have revolted, imprisoning the merchant in the house south of their former residence.
- The Yellow Orb's Location: Speak with the imprisoned merchant; they'll reveal the Yellow Orb's location. Return to the merchant's house. A quest marker will appear behind the sofa; interact with it to unearth the Yellow Orb.
