A Sneak Peek Into an Apocalyptic London
First showcased at the recent PlayStation State of Play, the hack-and-slash action-adventure game Tides of Annihilation has sparked significant interest with its newly released extended gameplay trailer. The footage provides an early glimpse into the game's development, featuring protagonist Gwendolyn and her sword-transforming companion, Niniane, navigating the ruins of a ravaged, otherworldly London following an Outworld invasion.
As they traverse the crumbling streets, the duo encounters numerous enemies that obstruct their path. A key revelation from the trailer is Gwendolyn's unique ability to summon a group of over ten legendary knights, drawing inspiration from King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.

After battling through foes and further exploration via a magical portal, Gwendolyn and Niniane are drawn into an intense boss fight against Mordred, a character with opposing objectives to Gwendolyn. This confrontation highlights the game's dynamic and action-packed combat, underscored by a haunting choir, culminating in a thrilling conclusion.
According to the game's producer, Kun Fu, featured on the PlayStation.Blog, the battle system is designed to offer "intuitive co-op combat in a single-player experience." Players can summon two spectral knights with distinct combat roles at any time, requiring strategic decision-making based on the situation. "The interplay between Gwendolyn and the knights creates a dynamic, fast-paced, and deeply engaging combat experience. It’s a system that our team (veterans from top game studios) fell in love with during internal playtests," Fu explained.
A Nod to Devil May Cry and Bayonetta

The trailer has garnered positive feedback from viewers, who have praised its art direction, style, and the fluid, fast-paced hack-and-slash combat. Many have drawn comparisons to iconic titles like Devil May Cry and Bayonetta, while also noting similarities to Elden Ring, NieR: Automata, Stellar Blade, and Final Fantasy 16. The excitement is palpable in the comments, with fans expressing their anticipation and recognizing the game's "immense potential," eagerly awaiting its launch.
Tides of Annihilation marks the debut title from Chengdu-based game studio Eclipse Glow Games, blending Arthurian legend with an alternate modern-day London setting. Players will step into the role of Gwendolyn, a survivor in an apocalyptic world. While no specific release date has been confirmed, the game is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
