Essentially, these are alternate art versions of existing cards. You'll find them in both the premium Collector Boosters and one in every three regular Play Boosters, ideal for Limited events like Draft and Sealed.
If you're planning to dive deep into this set, whether at your local game store or digitally on Magic: The Gathering Arena, expect to encounter these cards frequently. Five of the six cards are Rares, which means they're less common, but Thrum of the Vestige, an Uncommon reskin of the iconic Lightning Bolt, is likely to have a significant impact on the set.
The Warrior of Light reprint of Jodah, the Unifier, is poised to be a fan favorite. Jodah is a powerful and popular Commander, and the art here is drawn from Amano's original Final Fantasy Japanese boxart. Similarly, Amano's iconic art for Final Fantasy 4's Cecil Harvey has been repurposed for Tymna the Weaver, one of Magic's strongest partner commanders, previously reprinted only once.These cards will launch physically as part of the larger Final Fantasy set on June 13, with digital versions going live on MTG Arena and MTGO on June 10. Even if you're a Final Fantasy enthusiast not yet into Magic, there's excitement to be had. FF7 Remake series director Tetsuya Nomura hinted that Sephiroth's design on one card is different for an intriguing reason.
