As a practical person, I've always been cautious about spending money, focusing mainly on essentials and occasionally indulging in a discounted video game. However, last year, I found myself tempted by something I once loved as a child—LEGO sets. Despite my initial hesitation due to their high cost, I eventually decided to purchase the LEGO Super Mario Piranha Plant, which had been on sale since October for under $50. This decision was driven by my need for a new desk decoration, and the Piranha Plant seemed like the perfect choice.

My interest in this set was sparked after reading IGN's review of the Piranha Plant. Being a long-time fan of Mario games, this set felt like a fantastic way to showcase my affection for the franchise. While LEGO's botanical line offers beautiful flower sets, none capture the whimsical yet slightly terrifying essence of the Piranha Plant.
My LEGO Piranha Plant
Having now built the set, I'm thrilled to have it on my desk. It transports me to the Mushroom Kingdom, adding a touch of joy to my work hours. The building process itself was enjoyable, challenging enough to keep me engaged throughout the afternoon. This is currently my only LEGO Nintendo set, but the experience has certainly piqued my interest in expanding my collection.

How Much Are You Willing to Spend on a LEGO Set You Love?
The LEGO market can be quite pricey, especially with new adult-targeted sets often exceeding $200. It's a delicate balance between treating yourself to something you love and avoiding financial strain. The fact that the Mario LEGO set was under $50 made it a justifiable purchase for me. The hours spent building it and the daily happiness it brings me certainly feel worth the cost. However, I'm comfortable spending up to $50 on such indulgences.
