A new Alexa is here, at least in early access form. Alexa+ is a next-generation upgrade to the standard Alexa voice assistant, built on a generative AI foundation. It brings several new capabilities, but its core appeal is enabling more naturally flowing, conversational interactions. As Amazon puts it, "Alexa+ is more conversational, smarter, personalized—and she gets things done."
Alexa+ is currently in Early Access, but only on select Echo Show models: the Echo Show 8, 10, 15, and 21. Owning or purchasing one of these devices grants you first access. Use the link below to sign up for notifications about Early Access availability. Following this period, Alexa+ will be included as a free Prime membership benefit or available as a standalone subscription for $19.99 per month for non-Prime users.

Amazon's Early Access page also mentions that "new features are being added regularly," so expect further details about the upgraded assistant after the Early Access phase.
Not all devices are compatible with Alexa+, however. Amazon states that certain older generation Echo devices—including the Echo Dot 1st Gen, Echo 1st Gen, Echo Plus 1st Gen, Amazon Tap, Echo Show 1st Gen, Echo Show 2nd Gen, and Echo Spot 1st Gen—will continue using the classic Alexa. The company adds, "We will soon expand Alexa+ to more devices, including Fire TV, Fire tablets, and Alexa.com."
