A new trailer for the highly anticipated TV series "Alien: Earth" has surfaced online, providing fans with an exciting glimpse into the show set to premiere on Disney+ this summer. The trailer, initially unveiled at Disney's 2025 Annual Meeting of Shareholders, was shared by @CineGeekNews on X/Twitter, showcasing the harrowing plight of a spaceship crew as they navigate a Xenomorph-infested vessel hurtling towards Earth.
The trailer not only introduces a fresh Xenomorph design but also captures the essence of Ridley Scott’s original 1979 horror classic. Scenes are set in a MU/TH/UR control room eerily reminiscent of the Nostromo's, where Ripley famously uncovered the dire circumstances facing her crew. In "Alien: Earth," a frantic crew member is seen desperately seeking help, pounding on a sealed door as the Xenomorph approaches. Meanwhile, Morrow, portrayed by Babou Ceesay, coldly reports the escape of the "specimens," declares the crew dead, and sets the ship's course for Earth. The trailer then shifts to show six soldiers advancing towards what appears to be the crash site, hinting at the dangers they will inevitably face.
The trailer raises numerous intriguing questions about the series' plot. Will Morrow survive? What drives him? Are there any other survivors among the crew? Is anyone carrying a Xenomorph embryo? And what fate awaits the soldiers?
"Alien: Earth" is poised to explore the aftermath of a mysterious spacecraft crash-landing on Earth, where a young woman, played by Sydney Chandler, and a group of tactical soldiers make a chilling discovery that confronts them with the planet's greatest threat.
Set in 2120, the series fits snugly within the Alien timeline, positioned after "Prometheus" and just before the events of the original "Alien." This has led fans to speculate that "Alien: Earth" might feature the Nostromo's departure from Earth or reveal how Weyland-Yutani learned about the Xenomorphs. Notably, the recently released interquel "Alien: Romulus" is set between "Alien" and "Aliens."
Showrunner Noah Hawley has shared insights into his creative direction, stating he chose to distance "Alien: Earth" from the backstory established in "Prometheus." In discussions with Ridley Scott, Hawley decided to embrace the "retro-futurism" of the original films, steering clear of the bioweapon narrative in favor of the classic lore.
"Alien: Earth" is slated to premiere on Hulu in the summer of 2025, with "Alien: Romulus 2" also in development, promising more thrilling additions to the iconic franchise.
