Warner Bros. Discovery's sudden removal of several Cartoon Network and Adult Swim games has sparked significant backlash from fans. At least six titles, including popular favorites like Steven Universe: Save the Light and Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time, have been delisted from digital storefronts such as Steam and the Nintendo eShop. The publisher offered little to no explanation for this action, leaving fans unable to legally purchase these games.
This delisting is part of a broader cost-cutting strategy employed by Warner Bros. Discovery, which has previously shelved films and removed content from streaming services. A similar incident occurred in March 2024, involving several Adult Swim games, though public outcry prevented the complete removal of some titles. This time, however, the delistings have proceeded without prior notice.
The games affected include:
- Adventure Time: Finn and Jake's Epic Quest
- Adventure Time: Magic Man's Head Games
- OK K.O.! Let's Play Heroes
- Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time
- Steven Universe: Save the Light
- Steven Universe: Unleash the Light
Interestingly, some Cartoon Network Games remain available, such as Cartoon Network Journeys VR and Monsters Ate My Birthday Cake, along with the soundtrack for OK K.O.! Let's Play Heroes. The oldest game removed, Adventure Time: Finn and Jake's Epic Quest, debuted in April 2014. The lack of transparency from Warner Bros. Discovery, Cartoon Network Games, and Adult Swim Games regarding the reasons for these delistings has fueled further fan discontent, particularly concerning Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time, whose removal effectively cuts off access to the show's canonical season five conclusion. The absence of any explanation only exacerbates the negative reaction from the gaming community.
