Assassin’s Creed Shadows Pushed To March 20
Ubisoft Aiming For A More Engaging Experience
Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been rescheduled for release on March 20th, 2025, marking the second delay for this eagerly awaited title. Originally slated for a 2024 release, it was first postponed to February 14th, 2025, and now moved to March. Ubisoft's decision stems from a desire to integrate valuable player feedback to deliver a "high-quality, immersive experience."
In a statement shared across their official X (Twitter) and Facebook channels, Ubisoft explained, "Each week has brought valuable feedback from our community. While we’ve already made remarkable strides, we believe a few additional weeks are needed to implement that feedback and ensure an even more ambitious and engaging day-one experience."

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot further elaborated in a press release, stating, "We are all behind our teams’ efforts to create the most ambitious Assassin’s Creed opus of the franchise and made the decision to provide an extra month of development to Shadows in order to better incorporate the player feedback gathered over the past three months. This will enable us to fully deliver on the potential of the game and finish the year on a strong note."
The company also disclosed in the press release that it has enlisted "leading advisors to review and pursue various transformational strategic and capitalistic options to extract the best value for stakeholders." This move is part of a broader effort to restructure Ubisoft, aiming to "deliver best-in-class player experiences, enhance operational efficiency, and maximize value creation." This comes after a challenging year where Ubisoft faced setbacks with their 2024 releases—Star Wars Outlaws underperformed at launch, and their live-service shooter XDefiant ceased support just seven months after its debut in May.
While Ubisoft's official statements focus on improving the game, some fans speculate that the delay might also be a strategic move to avoid competition with other high-profile games set to release in February. Notable titles include Kingdom Come: Deliverance II (February 4th), Civilization VII (February 11th), Avowed (February 18th), and Monster Hunter Wilds (February 28th). Shifting the release date could help Assassin’s Creed Shadows stand out and garner more attention upon its launch.
