Assassin's Creed Shadows' "Claws of Awaji" DLC Leaks Ahead of March Release
A Steam leak has prematurely revealed details about the first downloadable content (DLC) for Assassin's Creed Shadows, titled "Claws of Awaji." This expansion, set in feudal Japan, promises a significant addition to the already anticipated title.
Assassin's Creed Shadows, the series' first foray into East Asia, features dual protagonists: Yasuke, a Samurai, and Naoe, a Shinobi. The game's development has faced numerous hurdles, including negative feedback and multiple delays, most recently pushing the launch date to March 20, 2025.
The leaked information, originating from a since-deleted Steam update, according to Insider Gaming, details "Claws of Awaji" as including a new region to explore, a novel weapon type, fresh skills, enhanced gear, and new abilities. The DLC is expected to add over 10 hours of gameplay. Pre-ordering the game will reportedly grant access to both the "Claws of Awaji" DLC and a bonus mission.
This leak surfaced shortly after Ubisoft announced yet another delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows, originally slated for November 15, 2024, then February 14, 2025. The ongoing delays and recent rumors of a potential Tencent buyout cast a shadow over Ubisoft's future, following underperformance of several high-profile titles. Despite these challenges, Ubisoft Quebec is pressing forward towards the March 20th launch.
