Ubisoft has revealed its roadmap for the first year of post-launch content for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, with plans to introduce features such as New Game+, additional difficulty levels, expanded story content, and more.
The Assassin’s Creed team laid out all its 2025 plans in a four-and-a-half-minute roadmap video released today—a concise yet insightful look at the upcoming updates, with a clear timeline for May and June as developers work to keep players engaged through free content throughout the year.

These additions reflect Ubisoft’s ongoing commitment to listening to the community and incorporating player feedback into future updates.
“Your feedback has been a core focus throughout development, and it won’t stop now that Shadows is live,” community developer Daniel St. Germain said in today’s video. “Regular updates are on the way, each bringing meaningful additions and adjustments based on your input, plus ongoing bug fixes to refine the experience across all platforms.”
Another free story drop is planned for June, along with harder difficulty settings, deeper gameplay immersion options, a new open-world alarm system, and the ability to toggle headgear during cutscenes. These are highly anticipated changes players have been asking for—and more are coming before the year ends, including New Game+ support, additional narrative expansions, special collaborations, and beyond.
The most significant post-launch addition is the first full DLC expansion, Claws of Awaji, launching at an unspecified time later this year. It will introduce new content such as the Bo staff weapon and an all-new region for Naoe and Yasuke to explore over its 10-hour campaign. Pricing details haven’t been announced yet, but it will be free for those who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows ahead of its March launch.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S on March 20, marking the first time Ubisoft’s iconic stealth series ventures into Feudal Japan. Its bold new direction earned it a spot on our list of the best games of 2025 so far and secured its title as the best-selling game of last month.
