It appears that photos of ASUS' Xbox-branded handheld device, codenamed Project Kennan, have surfaced online. As reported by 91mobiles and noted by Eurogamer, two images showcasing the ASUS ROG Ally 2 in both white and black variants have been leaked, originating from the Indonesian certification office and linked to a now-deleted FCC listing in the U.S.
Both versions feature an Xbox-style button layout, including Y, B, A, and X buttons, distinct from PlayStation and Nintendo configurations. Notably, the black variant prominently displays an Xbox button next to the thumbstick, though without the iconic 'X'. At this point, the technical specifications remain unclear, leaving it uncertain whether there are significant differences between the two color options.
Windows Central's Jez Corden has shared that these devices are currently under open testing at Microsoft HQ, hinting at a possible reveal around May 20, 2025.

Last month, ASUS Republic of Gamers teased their audience on X/Twitter with a glimpse of both a Republic of Gamers (ROG) Xbox controller and a handheld system. The official Xbox account responded with a playful wide-eyed gif, signaling an upcoming official announcement.
This development aligns with an earlier report from IGN, which mentioned Microsoft's plans for a next-gen Xbox in 2027 and an Xbox-branded gaming handheld expected later in 2025.
While the ASUS ROG Ally 2 is not a Microsoft-made console, Microsoft is reportedly gearing up to release its own first-party Xbox handheld in the future. Microsoft gaming boss Phil Spencer has hinted that such a device is still years away.
Furthermore, the successor to the Xbox Series X is reportedly in full production and expected to launch in two years, echoing Xbox president Sarah Bond's statement about Microsoft's commitment to advancing their next-generation hardware with significant technological advancements.
