Atelier Resleriana's End: A Year-Long Journey Concludes
Koei Tecmo has announced the closure of Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, just one year after its global launch. All services will cease on March 28th, with in-app purchases ending earlier on January 27th. Several in-game events are planned before the shutdown, allowing players a final opportunity to enjoy the game.
The developers cited an inability to maintain their initially established quality standards as the reason for the closure. Despite ongoing improvements and events, they determined that continued operation wasn't feasible. Players can still use existing Lodestar Gems, but purchasing additional gems is no longer possible.
The game's struggles weren't unexpected given the highly competitive gacha market. While Atelier Resleriana showed promise, it faced challenges including criticism of its gacha rates and less-than-stellar alchemy mechanics, a key element of the Atelier series. The gameplay, while functional, lacked the engagement needed to compete effectively.
Many players have expressed interest in an offline version on social media, but the likelihood of this happening is slim. If you've been playing Atelier Resleriana, make the most of the remaining time. For those seeking alternative JRPG experiences, a list of the best Android JRPGs is available.
