Larian Studios has announced a January launch for the Patch 8 stress test of Baldur's Gate 3, accessible via Steam on PC and on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. Mac and GOG users will not have access to this stress test. Registration is now open.
Larian plans to thoroughly test Patch 8 for stability and gameplay issues before its official release, stating they need player assistance to identify any problems. A key focus of this stress test is cross-play functionality. Larian acknowledges the complexity of implementing cross-play in a game of Baldur's Gate 3's scale and encourages players to participate in testing this feature. Players are invited to share the stress test registration link with friends or join the Larian Studios Discord Server to find groups.
While Patch 8 marks the final major update for Baldur's Gate 3, Larian confirms continued support for modders, promising substantial future updates and enhanced functionality to empower players in creating their own unique narratives. Since the September release of official mod tools, players have downloaded over 70 million modules and uploaded over 3,000 mods.
