Bandai Namco is taking another swing at bringing the beloved Digimon franchise to mobile devices with the announcement of Digimon Alysion, a digital rendition of the popular Digimon Card Game. This free-to-play game is set to launch on both Android and iOS platforms, although an exact release date has yet to be disclosed.
The game was officially unveiled at Digimon Con 2025, held on March 19th. Alongside this exciting news, Bandai Namco shared other updates, such as the continuation of Digimon Liberator with a new arc in April 2025. They also released a special video celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Digimon anime and announced a new project titled Digimon Adventure: Beyond. Additionally, a new RPG, Digimon Story: Time Stranger, is in the works for consoles and PC.
Digimon Alysion: A Fresh Take on the Card Game
Digimon Alysion is not just a direct port of the physical Digimon Card Game; it introduces a new element called ‘DigiAly’ cards, which are unique to this digital version. Alongside these, the game will feature original cards and new Digimon and characters. The character lineup showcased on the website is predominantly an all-girls cast, which marks a somewhat unconventional direction for a digital card game. This has led to some skepticism among fans, particularly those who were expecting a more faithful adaptation of the physical game.
This isn't Bandai Namco's first foray into Digimon mobile games, and their previous attempts have not been particularly successful. Having tried and failed twice before, there's a cautious optimism surrounding Digimon Alysion. Despite this, anticipation for the game remains high. A closed beta test is planned, though details are still scarce. For the latest updates, you can visit their official website or follow their X account.
