How to Beat Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds

Weaknesses: Ice, Thunder Resistances: N/A Immunities: Sonic Bomb
The Chatacabra, a large frog-like monster, primarily uses close-range attacks with its tongue. It may also charge if you maintain distance. While any weapon works, its smaller size makes weapons like the Bow and Charge Blade slightly less efficient due to their multi-hit attacks being more effective against larger targets.
Most attacks involve its tongue, making frontal assaults risky. Besides its tongue lick, it slams its front limbs into the ground after a telltale rear. The only significant attack from a distance is a head-raised, sweeping tongue attack from behind.
For optimal strategy, stay to its sides, dodging or blocking its slam attack. Utilizing its elemental weaknesses will significantly accelerate the fight. With the right tactics, you’ll be sporting a new frog-skin hat in no time!
How to Capture Chatacabra in Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster capture in *Monster Hunter Wilds* is consistent, though the Chatacabra's lack of flight simplifies things. Equip a Shock Trap or Pitfall Trap and two Tranq Bombs. However, carrying one of each trap and eight Tranq Bombs is recommended for unforeseen circumstances.
Battle the Chatacabra until its mini-map icon displays a skull, indicating its final retreat. Follow it, set your trap, and lure it inside. Once trapped, use two Tranq Bombs to tranquilize it—and you’re done!
