In a tweet today, the official Bethesda account announced an event scheduled for tomorrow at 8am PT/11am ET, to be streamed live on both YouTube and Twitch. Although the exact nature of the announcement remains undisclosed, the prominent "IV" and the background, which closely resembles iconic art from Oblivion, strongly suggest what fans have been eagerly awaiting.
Speculation about an Oblivion remake has been rampant for years, gaining momentum with recent leaks. The initial whispers emerged from a 2020 Bethesda release schedule, which was inadvertently revealed during the FTC vs. Microsoft trial in 2023. This document hinted at an Oblivion remaster planned for fiscal year 2022, but the outdated nature of the document and the missed release window led many to believe the project might have been scrapped. However, a significant leak in January of this year reignited hope, portraying the remaster as a comprehensive remake developed by Bethesda with assistance from Virtuos. Last week's leaks from Virtuos' website, including images of the remake in progress, further solidified these rumors.
Should these leaks hold true, The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered will be released on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. Additionally, a Deluxe Edition featuring the infamous horse armor will be available alongside the standard version.
Be sure to tune in tomorrow for what is expected to be the official confirmation and further details on this exciting development.
