New Earlier Release Date: September 12
Following the State of Play announcement, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford shared via Twitter (X) video that Borderlands 4 will now launch September 12 instead of its previously announced September 23 date. Though he initially deleted the video, citing premature posting, the official Borderlands account later confirmed this accelerated schedule.
The official statement explained: "After thorough evaluation—including extensive meetings, playtesting, and exceptional development progress—we've made the significant decision to move Borderlands 4's launch forward to September 12."
Gearbox Software aims to deliver the ultimate Borderlands experience with this latest installment. The earlier release means players can begin exploring the new planet Kairos sooner than anticipated.
Borderlands 4 launches September 12, 2025 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC platforms. Stay tuned for further updates as we approach release!
