Capcom has cleverly teased Resident Evil 9 right under our noses. To celebrate reaching an impressive 10 million players, the Resident Evil 4 development team shared a celebratory video on social media on April 25. The video features Ada Wong whispering to a notorious villain, followed by a scene where Leon is surrounded by infected enemies wearing party hats, casually approaching a church.
The video then transitions to a rock song, showcasing Dr. Salvador humorously strumming his chainsaw as if it were a guitar. The camera pans to a lively Leon, fist-pumping, with a rustic "Thank you for playing" sign behind him. You can view the full video below:

But here's the catch: when you turn that sign on its side, the boards spell out the Roman numeral "IX," which is 9. While some might dismiss this as a coincidence, horror game insider Dusk Golem points out that the lower plank on the sign was absent in earlier parts of the video, indicating it was added deliberately. What do you make of this?
"I know what you did here," said one surprised viewer, complete with a wide-eyed emoji.
Capcom has officially announced that the next mainline entry in the Resident Evil series, presumably Resident Evil 9, will be helmed by Koshi Nakanishi, the director of Resident Evil 7. Nakanishi stated at the time, "It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7]. But I found it, and to be honest, it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can." Rumors suggest, though not confirmed, that the setting could be an island inspired by Singapore.
