Breath of Fire IV has made a triumphant return to the gaming scene, now available on PC, a full 25 years after its initial release. Originally launched on the PlayStation in Japan and North America back in 2000, with a European release following in 2001, the game saw a PC port in Europe and Japan in 2003. This classic role-playing game from Capcom follows the adventures of Ryu, a protagonist with the unique ability to transform into a dragon, as he joins forces with a band of warriors to thwart an emperor's plans to annihilate the world.
Thanks to GOG's ongoing Preservation Program, Breath of Fire IV has been meticulously updated for today's PC users and is now available DRM-free on their platform. The enhanced version boasts full compatibility with Windows 10 and 11, featuring both English and Japanese localizations. Players can enjoy improved graphics thanks to an upgraded DirectX renderer, along with new display options such as Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing, and refined gamma correction for a visually richer experience. The audio engine has also seen upgrades, restoring missing environmental sounds and providing new configuration options for an immersive gameplay experience.
