The Rune Giant, a new Epic card in Clash Royale, is unlocked in the Jungle Arena (Arena 9) and was initially available for free. While easily obtained, mastering its use is key to victory. This guide explores optimal Rune Giant deck strategies.
Clash Royale Rune Giant Overview
The Rune Giant is an Epic card targeting enemy Towers and defensive structures. At tournament level, it boasts 2803 Hitpoints and medium movement speed, dealing 120 damage to buildings – more than an Ice Golem but less than a Giant.
Its strength lies not in its tankiness, but its unique Enchant ability. Upon deployment, it enchants two nearby troops, boosting their damage output on every third hit. This buffing potential makes it incredibly effective in specific deck combinations.
Costing only four elixirs, it's easily cycled without depleting your elixir supply. Fast-attacking units like the Dart Goblin maximize its effect, while slower units benefit from strategic deployment. The following video showcases a Hunter, empowered by the Rune Giant's Enchant, quickly eliminating a Lava Hound.
However, unlike the Golem, the Rune Giant lacks the Hitpoints to serve as a sole win condition. It's best utilized as a supportive buffer, distracting enemies and absorbing tower damage while your other units attack.
Best Rune Giant Decks in Clash Royale
Here are top-performing Rune Giant decks:
- Goblin Giant Cannon Cart
- Battle Ram 3M
- Hog EQ Firecracker
Details on each deck follow.
Goblin Giant Cannon Cart
While the Goblin Giant Sparky deck remains strong, this variant incorporates the Cannon Cart for enhanced effectiveness with the Rune Giant.
Card Name
Elixir Cost
This beatdown deck offers robust defense against various strategies. The Rune Giant ideally buffs the Cannon Cart and Goblin Giant (including its Spear Goblins). The Cannon Cart's durability allows significant damage output. An Elixir Collector aids elixir management, and the Lumberjack and Rage spell provide additional Goblin Giant boosts. However, its weak air defense (Evo Bats only) makes it vulnerable to Lava Hound decks. This deck utilizes the Royal Chef Tower Troop.
Battle Ram 3M
The Three Musketeers, while expensive, prove effective with the Rune Giant in this Pekka Bridge Spam-style deck.
Card Name
Elixir Cost
Early game pressure relies on Bandit, Royal Ghost, and Evo Battle Ram. Elixir Collector builds an elixir advantage for the Double Elixir phase. The Three Musketeers are strategically deployed. Defense uses the Rune Giant and Hunter combo, with the Rune Giant tanking while the Hunter, enhanced by the Enchant, eliminates threats. Evo Zap supports Battle Ram pushes. This deck uses the Tower Princess Tower Troop.
Hog EQ Firecracker
A top-tier Hog Rider deck, enhanced by the Rune Giant, achieving Ultimate Champion rankings.
Card Name
Elixir Cost
Gameplay mirrors the standard Hog EQ Firecracker, replacing Valkyrie or Mighty Miner with the Rune Giant. The Rune Giant's Enchant significantly boosts Firecracker damage. Earthquake provides late-game tower damage. Evo Skeletons offer defense. This deck utilizes the Tower Princess Tower Troop.
The Rune Giant introduces strategic depth to Clash Royale. Its buffing capability encourages experimentation. These decks provide a foundation; personalize them to suit your playstyle.
