While eagerly awaiting the release of DOOM: The Dark Ages, many are revisiting the classic DOOM games. Good news! A recent update for the DOOM + DOOM 2 compilation has significantly enhanced the experience.
This update boasts improved technical performance and more. Crucially, it now supports multiplayer modifications created using Vanilla DOOM, DeHackEd, MBF21, or BOOM. Cooperative gameplay has been enhanced with shared item pickups and an observer mode for players awaiting revival. Multiplayer network code has also received optimization. The mod loader's capacity has been expanded, now handling significantly more than the initial 100+ subscribed mods.
Looking ahead to DOOM: The Dark Ages, accessibility is a key focus. The game will offer unprecedented customization options, exceeding those in previous id Software titles. Executive producer Marty Stratton emphasizes the game's accessibility, highlighting the ability to adjust enemy aggression in the settings.
Players will have extensive control over various aspects, including enemy damage and difficulty, projectile speed and damage, and even broader gameplay elements such as pacing, aggression levels, and parry timings. Stratton assures players that prior experience with DOOM: The Dark Ages isn't necessary to understand its narrative, which connects seamlessly with DOOM: Eternal.
