Unlocking "Under the Straw Hat" in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: A Comprehensive Guide
Several quests in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 require reaching Kuttenberg before activation. Once there, inter-region travel becomes possible. This guide details completing the "Under the Straw Hat" side quest.
Prerequisites: The "In Vino Veritas" Quest
Before embarking on "Under the Straw Hat," you must initiate "In Vino Veritas." This quest begins in Kuttenberg. Speak to Casper Rudolf, located west of the city, offering free wine samples. He needs information to enhance his winemaking.
You can either directly approach Havel (requiring fine clothing and cleanliness) and provide the correct wine knowledge ("Germany," "Steinberger," and "It's missing ginger"), or retrieve Casper's book from Adleta and study it. Return to Casper with the acquired information.
Infiltrating the Vineyard
Casper now tasks you with infiltrating the vineyard north of Kuttenberg to investigate a specific incense. Avoid trespassing by following the main road. Speak to the recruiter; this triggers the "Under the Straw Hat" quest. Proceed to find Jerome, seated on a bench within the estate. Inform him of your assigned duties.
Working (or Not Working) at the Vineyard
Your vineyard work begins the following day. You can either diligently perform tasks (moving sacks, harvesting thistles) for payment, or directly acquire the secret incense.
The incense is located in the cellar of the main building. Access requires lockpicking skills or stealing Jerome's keys. Retrieve the Sulphur Wicks from the cellar chest. Optionally, gather five seedlings for an increased reward (requires quick trespassing). Complete the quest by returning to Casper with the wicks (and seedlings, if collected). Collecting your pay from Jerome concludes the work aspect. Completing these steps finishes both "Under the Straw Hat" and "In Vino Veritas," opening up quests like "Master Schindel’s Toys."
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
