Krafton is reportedly changing the name of Dark and Darker Mobile and terminating its agreement with Ironmace Studio. This follows a recent court ruling ordering Ironmace to pay Nexon $6 million in damages over a lawsuit alleging the use of trade secrets. While Krafton denies the name change is directly related to the lawsuit, the termination of their licensing agreement suggests otherwise. This makes Dark and Darker Mobile a fully independent release, regardless of its new title.
The irony is not lost that Ironmace initially sued Nexon for copyright infringement. Despite the severed partnership, Krafton appears poised to proceed with the mobile game's launch under a new name. This situation raises questions about intellectual property rights and the broader implications for the genre.
Despite the legal battles, Krafton intends to maintain the original global release schedule for Dark and Darker Mobile. However, we will provide updates should any changes occur. We remain hopeful that the final product retains the high quality we commended in our previous review.
