Deltarune is set to offer an exciting exclusive feature for its Nintendo Switch 2 version, which was unveiled during the latest Nintendo Direct on April 2. This next-gen console version will not only include Chapters 3 and 4 but also introduce some unique elements tailored specifically for Switch 2 players.
Special Room and More Exclusively for Switch 2
One of the standout features of the Deltarune Switch 2 version is a unique room designed to utilize the mouse functionality of the new Joy-Cons. Toby Fox, the game's developer, shared in a Fangamer newsletter, "So, we made a very small SPECIAL ROOM which takes advantage of using MOUSE CONTROLS ON TWO CONTROLLERS AT ONCE, only possible on the Nintendo Switch 2!!" This innovative feature enhances the gameplay experience by allowing players to interact with the game in a new way.
For those without a Switch 2, the special room will still be accessible, but with a different control scheme to accommodate other devices. Additionally, players can seamlessly import their save files from the Nintendo Switch demo of Deltarune Chapters 1 and 2 into the new version, ensuring continuity of their gaming experience.
Deltarune Future Chapters Will Be Free
In the same newsletter, Toby Fox announced that Deltarune will be priced at $24.99 and will include Chapters 1 through 4. Initially released as free content, Chapters 1 and 2 have set a precedent, but Fox had previously indicated that future chapters would be paid. However, in a surprising turn, he confirmed that Chapters 3-5 will be added as free updates. Fox expressed his hope that, "as we complete more Chapters, you'll feel like this game was a super super super super good deal."
Moreover, the game’s soundtrack will be available on Steam for $14.99, featuring over 150 songs from Chapters 3 and 4. Future chapters' songs will also be added at no extra cost, ensuring that fans get maximum value from their purchase.
Deltarune Chapters 1-4 are scheduled to release on June 5, 2025, coinciding with the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. The game will be available across multiple platforms including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
