Excitement is brewing in the Digimon community as a new game, Digimon Story: Time Stranger, has seemingly leaked through GameStop, just ahead of tonight’s PlayStation State of Play presentation. The leak was first spotted and shared by Gematsu, who also provided store links for pre-orders on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Although the GameStop pages are devoid of images or gameplay details, fans are eagerly awaiting official news about this mysterious project.
The timing of this leak couldn't be more perfect, as it coincides with Sony’s latest State of Play presentation, which is set to feature 40 minutes of content. While Sony has kept the lineup under wraps, the sudden appearance of pre-order listings for Digimon Story: Time Stranger suggests that we might see the beloved digital monster series featured in the show.
The Digimon Story series has a rich history that dates back to the mid-2000s with the original Digimon Story for the Nintendo DS. Since then, numerous sequels and spin-offs have been released across various platforms. Notable recent entries include Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth in 2015, followed by Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory in 2017, and the Complete Edition in 2019, which bundled both Cyber Sleuth titles.
In these games, players are immersed in the Digimon world, forming bonds with the creatures and engaging in RPG-style battles. The last major announcement came from franchise producer Kazumashu Habu in 2022, teasing a new Story game. Although Digimon Survive has helped to bridge the gap, fans have been eagerly awaiting a true successor. If Digimon Story: Time Stranger is officially announced soon, it could mark the end of a long wait for a fresh installment in the series.
