Serenity Forge and Team Salvato have released Doki Doki Literature Club! for mobile devices. Serenity Forge, known for publishing the acclaimed LISA post-apocalyptic series, partners with indie studio Team Salvato, led by creator Dan Salvato.
Doki Doki Literature Club! is a Psychological Horror Visual Novel
While it initially presents itself as a lighthearted dating simulator, the game is a deeply metafictional experience in psychological horror. It masterfully blends cheerful school poetry with an underlying sense of dread, following the lives of club members Sayori, Natsuki, Yuri, and Monika.
You play as a high school student who joins the Literature Club with romantic aspirations. Your afternoons are spent crafting poems in an attempt to win over one of the club's members.
Seemingly innocent moments gradually twist and distort based on your decisions. You navigate each poem draft, every menu choice, and each corrected mistake, striving to shape a perfect outcome.
The mobile version introduces six new side stories exploring themes of friendship and literature. It also features a collection of over 100 unlockable images that can be saved directly as custom wallpapers.
The game includes the complete soundtracks from both the original DDLC and DDLC Plus. An integrated music player allows for endless track looping. With 26 total tracks, 13 are brand-new compositions by Nikki Kaelar, featuring special guest appearances from Jason Hayes and Azuria Sky.
