TouchArcade Rating:
Last year's Switch release of Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince from Square Enix charmed me despite its technical hiccups. The engaging gameplay and overall charm surpassed other Dragon Quest spin-offs on the Switch, rivaling the excellent Dragon Quest Builders 2. While I anticipated a PC port, a mobile release was unexpected. Today, Square Enix announced that the Switch exclusive Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince ($23.99) will arrive on iOS, Android, and Steam on September 11th, including all previously released DLC. This means the Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince Digital Deluxe Edition content will also be available. Watch the trailer below:
Comparison images showcasing the game on mobile, Switch, and Steam are available on the official Japanese website. Here's one example:

The Steam and mobile versions will omit the online real-time battle mode ("Network Mode for Online Battles") featured in the Switch version.
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince is currently available on Nintendo Switch for $59.99 (standard edition) and $84.99 (Digital Deluxe Edition). Having thoroughly enjoyed the Switch version, I'm eager to review it on iPhone, iPad, and Steam Deck upon its September 11th launch. It's fantastic to see Square Enix bringing more Dragon Quest titles to mobile so quickly after their initial console release. Considering the typical delays between console and mobile releases in this series (like Dragon Quest Builders), I wouldn't have expected a mobile port until perhaps 2027. The mobile price is set at $29.99, while the Steam version will cost $39.99. Pre-register on the App Store for iOS here and on Google Play for Android here. Have you played Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince on Switch? Will you be trying it on mobile or Steam in two weeks?
