Exploring the overworld in Dynasty Warriors: Origins offers multiple rewards to enhance your gameplay experience. While Pyroxene can be used to craft gems, you'll also come across Old Coins, which may seem mysterious at first but prove to be highly beneficial as you progress.
There are several ways to acquire Old Coins, and you'll accumulate quite a few as there are hundreds to be found throughout the game. Here's how to use them and the various methods to obtain them.
What To Use Old Coins For In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
During the initial chapter of the game, Old Coins won't have an immediate use, so you can safely ignore them and focus on advancing the main story. Once you start Chapter 2, complete the following main story battles:
- Suppression of You Province
- Suppression of Jing Province
- Suppression of Liang Province
Upon completing these three battles, you'll return to the city of Ji and encounter a man named Sima Hui. After your conversation and a subsequent task to fetch incense for the Innkeeper, the Shui Jing Retreat will appear in the overworld right next to Ji. Here, you can interact with Sima Hui and utilize your Old Coins. Besides checking your bonds and rewatching past interactions, you can exchange Old Coins for valuable rewards.
Rewards are awarded upon reaching specific Old Coin milestones, so be sure to turn them in whenever you're nearby.

How To Get Old Coins In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
With 500 Old Coins scattered throughout the game, it's advisable not to focus too heavily on farming them early on, as you'll unlock more efficient methods over time. Here are the various ways to obtain them:
- Discovering them in the overworld, where their icons are small and only visible when you're close.
- Receiving them through Bond Interactions with your companions and officers.
- Collecting them from letters at the Inn following story events.
- Earning them as Regional Peace rewards at Waypoints.
When searching for Old Coins in the overworld, remember that their icons are subtle and only appear when you're in proximity, unlike the more noticeable Pyroxene. The rewards for Old Coins vary in utility, but by focusing on playing the game naturally, you'll find them accumulating without much effort.
