An Elden Ring player's ambitious undertaking: conquering the notoriously challenging Messmer the Impaler boss daily until the release of the upcoming spin-off, Elden Ring: Nightreign. This dedicated gamer, known as chickensandwich420, is documenting his incredible feat on YouTube.
A Daily Grind: No-Hit Messmer Battles

Instead of passively awaiting Nightreign's launch, chickensandwich420 devised a unique challenge: defeating Messmer each day on NG+7, employing a different weapon each time and achieving a flawless no-hit victory. This demanding task began on December 16th, 2024. His initial plan involved tackling various FromSoftware bosses, but his university studies necessitated a more focused approach.
Messmer, the second antagonist in Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, is infamous for his punishing difficulty. Players report needing 30 to over 150 attempts to defeat him, even with optimal gear. chickensandwich420's self-imposed challenge is therefore exceptionally demanding.

The challenge, however, includes a self-imposed deadline: June 2025. If Nightreign doesn't launch by then, chickensandwich420 will shift his focus to other games. This sets a limit of roughly 160 Messmer battles. At the time of writing, he's on day 23.
Elden Ring: Nightreign, a three-player co-op spin-off set within the Elden Ring universe, was announced at The Game Awards 2024, with a projected 2025 release. However, FromSoftware's track record suggests potential delays. Whether chickensandwich420 completes his monumental task before Nightreign's release remains to be seen.
