Hello, dear readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 29th, 2024. Today's column is packed with a hefty lineup of new releases, which is typical for our Thursday updates. Additionally, we have a substantial list of new sales to explore. While we can't have a Nintendo Direct every day, there's still plenty to dive into. Let's jump right into the games!
Select New Releases
Emio – The Smiling Man: Famicom Detective Club ($49.99)

After a long hiatus, the Famicom Detective Club series is back with a new installment that remains true to its roots. This latest mystery offers a fresh case to solve, maintaining the familiar style of the recent remakes on the Switch. Are you up for cracking the latest serial murder case? Stay tuned for my upcoming review.
Gundam Breaker 4 ($59.99)

Mikhail has penned an extensive review of this game, so if you're looking for a detailed breakdown, I recommend checking it out. In short, Gundam Breaker 4 lets you build and battle with Gunplas. While the Switch version may lag behind others in performance, it still delivers a satisfying experience. Don't miss Mikhail's insightful review.
Shadow of the Ninja – Reborn ($19.99)

Tengo Project continues its streak of impressive remakes with Shadow of the Ninja – Reborn. This re-imagining of an 8-bit classic offers a distinct departure from the original, packed with action-platforming goodness. Keep an eye out for my review early next week.
Valfaris: Mecha Therion ($19.99)

A sequel to Valfaris, Mecha Therion shifts gears to a 2.5D side-scrolling shoot 'em up. While the genre change might surprise some, embracing it reveals a solid game. Look out for my upcoming review for more insights.
Nour: Play With Your Food ($9.99)

Nour: Play With Your Food is an enigmatic experience. It features stunning food visuals, and you're encouraged to interact with them—perhaps by taking photos or uncovering secrets. I might send Mikhail to explore this further; it seems right up his alley.
Monster Jam Showdown ($49.99)

Monster Jam Showdown is all about monster trucks, not jams or monsters of the mythical kind. It offers multiplayer modes, both local and online, and various gameplay options. While it has received mixed reviews on other platforms, it might still appeal to dedicated monster truck enthusiasts.
WitchSpring R ($39.99)

WitchSpring R may be a remake of the original, but at this price point, it's venturing into Atelier territory. Still, it's the most polished entry in the WitchSpring series to date, and it might be worth a try if you're interested.
Depths of Sanity ($19.99)

Depths of Sanity is an underwater exploration game with a fantastical horror twist. As you search for your missing crew, you'll navigate a vast, interconnected underwater world filled with dangers and mysteries. Highly regarded by fans of exploratory action games, it should find a strong following on the Switch.
Voltaire: The Vegan Vampire ($19.99)

In Voltaire: The Vegan Vampire, you play as a rebellious young vampire who adopts a vegan lifestyle, much to his father's dismay. Expect farming and action as you fend off your father's attempts to thwart you. It's a genre I'm currently feeling a bit tired of, but it might catch your interest.
Marble Abduction! Patti Hattu ($11.79)

Marble Abduction! Patti Hattu is a marble roller game with seventy stages and eighty marbles to collect. With secret collectibles and special challenges, it offers the classic thrill of navigating tracks at high speed without falling off.
Leo: The Firefighter Cat ($24.99)

Leo: The Firefighter Cat brings firefighting to a younger audience with twenty missions that capture the essence of the job. It's a fun and engaging game for kids interested in firefighting.
Gori: Cuddly Carnage ($21.99)

Gori: Cuddly Carnage is a grotesque action game featuring a hoverboarding cat who slices through enemies. While the game itself is decent, the Switch version reportedly suffers from technical issues that might affect your experience. Consider this if you're sensitive to performance problems.
Arcade Archives Finalizer Super Transformation ($7.99)

Arcade Archives Finalizer Super Transformation is a 1985 Konami vertical shooter featuring a transforming robot hero. It's a classic post-Xevious experience with a unique charm that might appeal to shooter fans.
EGGCONSOLE Xanadu Scenario II PC-8801mkIISR ($6.49)

Xanadu Scenario II is an early expansion pack that introduces a new underworld to explore. Notably, it features the debut of the legendary composer Yuzo Koshiro. If you're a fan of gaming history, this might be worth checking out.
The Backrooms: Survival ($10.99)

The Backrooms: Survival blends horror, survival, and roguelite elements into a compelling package. Best enjoyed with up to ten players online, it offers a unique experience that might appeal to fans of the genre.
Can of Wormholes ($19.99)

Can of Wormholes is a clever puzzle game where you play as a sentient tin can solving worm-related puzzles. With one hundred hand-crafted puzzles and a fresh approach, it's a standout for puzzle enthusiasts.
Ninja I & II ($9.99)

Ninja I & II offers modern NES-style microgames with a competitive edge. Whether playing against a friend or the CPU, it's a fun take on the genre, showcasing what's possible within NES limitations.
Dice Make 10! ($3.99)

Dice Make 10! is a delightful puzzle game where you clear rows or columns by making the dice faces add up to ten or multiples of ten. With two engaging modes, it's a must-try for puzzle lovers.
Sales
(North American eShop, US Prices)
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of The King of Fighters, Hamster and SNK are offering a sale on every game in the series on Arcade Archives. It's the perfect time to complete your collection. Additionally, Pixel Game Maker Series titles are at their lowest prices yet, so if you've been holding off, now might be the time. There are also some good indie deals worth checking out.

That concludes today's round-up, friends. We'll be back tomorrow to wrap up the week with the remaining new releases, sales, and any major news. There might even be some reviews in the mix. Keep in mind, a huge typhoon is passing through this week, and there's a chance I won't be able to reach my office to write tomorrow's article. We'll address that if it comes to pass. I hope you all enjoy your Thursday, and as always, thank you for reading!
