Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator's Global Server to Shut Down
Sad news for global players of Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator. Koei Tecmo and Akatsuki Games have announced the End of Service (EOS) for the global version of their RPG. The shutdown, impacting only the global release, is scheduled for March 28th, 2025 – ironically coinciding with the Japanese version's 1.5th anniversary.
Launched globally in January 2024, the game's relatively short lifespan hints at underperformance. In contrast, the Japanese version, released in September 2023, continues to thrive.
Shutdown Details:
- Date: March 28th, 2025
- In-game Purchases: Disabled
- Remaining Lodestar Gems: Usable until the shutdown.
- Final Events & Content: Koei Tecmo promises new content and events leading up to the closure.
Reasons for Shutdown:
The developers cited an inability to maintain a satisfactory player experience. The game struggled to gain traction, with player complaints surfacing just months after launch, primarily focusing on the gacha system, gameplay pacing, monetization strategies, and excessive power creep. These factors ultimately led to the decision to shut down the global server.
While the global version's first anniversary was recently celebrated (January 25th), its closure underscores the challenges faced by mobile games in maintaining player engagement and achieving sustainable success. Players wishing to experience the game before its closure can still download it from the Google Play Store.
