A Vision for the Future: Sandfall’s Post-Launch Roadmap
Sandfall Interactive, the creative force behind Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, is actively working on a wave of improvements to elevate the player experience. In a June 16 announcement on Twitter (X), the studio revealed they are exploring a broad range of future updates—spanning accessibility features, new content, and various quality-of-life enhancements currently under evaluation.
The team emphasized their commitment to inclusivity by expanding localization options beyond the existing French and English voiceovers, with plans to support subtitles in additional languages. This move responds to growing community demand for broader accessibility.

Fans of the critically praised RPG have long hoped for expanded content, and their voices are being heard. Last month, Expedition 33 Lead Writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen expressed optimism about the possibility of DLC. While no official plans have been confirmed, she noted that the decision hinges on strong player interest—which, based on community feedback, is clearly present.
It's also worth noting that Sandfall Interactive is already looking ahead to its next project. COO and Producer François Meurisse confirmed that a new game is in the works, though details remain under wraps for now.
Despite the lack of a specific release timeline for updates, Sandfall reassured fans that all suggestions are being monitored closely. The community responded enthusiastically, with many calling for Arabic localization—a feature frequently requested across global player bases.
Hideo Kojima Praises Expedition 33’s Development Scale

In a recent group interview covered by Dexerto, legendary game creator Hideo Kojima—renowned for Metal Gear and Death Stranding—shared his admiration for Expedition 33, particularly highlighting the size of its development team. Reflecting on how team dynamics have evolved throughout his career, Kojima noted that smaller teams often foster tighter creative control.
"When I first started, it was like a team of six. You could do everything yourself. Now, it’s expanded. You can’t really control each employee, so you delegate. But sometimes, the idea doesn’t really work out because it’s a bigger team," he explained.
Kojima praised Sandfall’s lean team of around 33 members—and one office dog—calling it his ideal creative environment. "That’s my ideal when I create something with a team," he said, underscoring the potential of compact, focused development squads.
CD Projekt Red Champions Expedition 33 for Game of the Year
Industry acclaim for Expedition 33 continues to grow, with CD Projekt Red’s Global Community Director Marcin Momot publicly advocating for the game’s inclusion in Game of the Year (GOTY) conversations. On June 17, Momot took to Twitter (X) to express his admiration, stating, "That's it for Clair Obscur. I'm not going to be original here when I say we NEED more games like this."
He praised the game’s compelling narrative, memorable characters, engaging turn-based combat, and exceptional soundtrack, calling it “brilliant” across the board. In follow-up comments, Momot highlighted the game’s multiple endings, noting that “the story and the endings hit hard.”
Echoing fan sentiment, he agreed that it will be difficult for other titles to surpass Expedition 33 in this year’s GOTY race.

While Expedition 33 has become a strong contender for top honors, the competitive 2024 game lineup presents a challenge for Sandfall Interactive’s debut title. Still, with widespread critical and community support, its place in GOTY discussions is firmly secured.
