Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3: PS5 Launch Confirmed, Multi-Platform Release Planned

The highly anticipated final installment of the FF7 Remake trilogy will debut on the PlayStation 5, according to producers Yoshinori Kitase and director Naoki Hamaguchi. This confirmation, shared during a January 23, 2025 interview with 4Gamer, addresses concerns from PlayStation fans following the staggered releases of previous installments. Kitase stated definitively, "No, you can rest assured about the next one (FF7 Remake Part 3)."

Release Date and Development Progress:
While Square Enix remains tight-lipped about a concrete release date, Hamaguchi offered an encouraging update during a January 23, 2025 Famitsu interview. He reported that development is progressing smoothly, stating, "It’s going very well...We are progressing without any delay from the schedule we planned when we launched the remake project, so we hope you will look forward to it." Kitase also expressed confidence in the completed storyline, assuring fans of a satisfying conclusion.

Timed Exclusivity Expected:
A March 6, 2024 report from the Washington Post suggests PlayStation secured timed exclusivity for the entire FF7 Remake trilogy. Considering the release patterns of previous games (one-year exclusivity for FF7 Remake on PS4, six-month exclusivity for FF7 Remake Intergrade on PS5, and a similar timeframe for FF7 Rebirth), a timed PS5 exclusive launch for Part 3 is highly probable before its release on other platforms.

Square Enix's Multi-Platform Shift:
Despite the positive reception of the FF7 Remake series, Square Enix's financial report from March 31, 2024 revealed declining sales in its HD titles. In response, the company announced a shift towards a more aggressive multi-platform strategy, encompassing Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms. This strategic move aims to boost sales and broaden the reach of future titles.

This suggests that while FF7 Remake Part 3 will initially launch on PS5, a wider release across multiple platforms is likely to follow at a later date.
