For the majority of the 21st century, Final Fantasy titles were exclusive to PlayStation consoles. However, as a legendary franchise with nearly four decades of history, Square Enix has increasingly embraced multiplatform releases to ensure accessibility for newer generations and maximize commercial success. Alongside PC ports, the company has brought several remastered editions and special collections of Final Fantasy games to Nintendo’s handheld platforms.
The presence of Final Fantasy on Switch is not entirely new. The series’ origins trace back to Nintendo hardware—Final Fantasy debuted on the Famicom in 1987. In fact, the first six core entries in the series launched on Nintendo systems before Square Enix transitioned to PlayStation starting with Final Fantasy VII.
With the upcoming PC launch of Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth and a high-profile Magic: The Gathering collaboration reintroducing Final Fantasy elements to a broader audience in 2025, many players are eager to explore the series for the first time or revisit classic adventures. Below is a comprehensive list of all Final Fantasy games currently available on Nintendo Switch.

Final Fantasy I–VI Pixel Remaster
Square Enix has re-released the first six Final Fantasy games under its Pixel Remaster line. Each entry features enhanced visuals, revised soundtracks, modernized UIs, and bonus galleries showcasing artwork, music, and monster designs. This collection offers the best way to experience these foundational RPGs on modern hardware.
The Pixel Remasters can be purchased individually ($12–18 USD per title) or as a complete bundle ($75 USD). If you're looking to start with one, we recommend Final Fantasy VI, which is widely regarded as having one of the most compelling narratives in the series.

Final Fantasy VII
One of the most iconic RPGs ever made, Final Fantasy VII, is now playable on Switch. While not a full HD remaster like later versions, this port brings the original 1997 PlayStation experience to Nintendo’s hybrid console, along with quality-of-life enhancements such as a 3x speed mode, encounter toggle, and battle assist options.
It’s an excellent opportunity to experience the groundbreaking world of Midgar and Cloud Strife’s fight against Shinra and Sephiroth exactly how it was first introduced—just with a few helpful updates.
