Charlie Cox's portrayal of Daredevil has seamlessly transitioned from Netflix to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sparking speculation about potential comebacks for other members of The Defenders. Finn Jones, who played Iron Fist in the Netflix series, has expressed his enthusiasm for returning to the role, stating at LaConve, an anime convention in Monterrey, NL, Mexico, "I’m here and I’m ready."
Jones last portrayed Danny Rand in Season 2 of the Iron Fist series and in The Defenders, where he teamed up with Daredevil/Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter). Despite the lukewarm reception to Jones' interpretation of Iron Fist, the successful reintegration of Daredevil into the MCU has fueled hopes for the revival of The Defenders saga. Recent reports suggest that Marvel is "exploring" this possibility.
At the convention, Jones openly addressed the criticism he received, saying, "There is a willingness for the fans to see that happen. There’s a lot of willingness for the fans to see that not happen as well. I’m very aware of the critiques of the character and my role in it. My response to that is like, give me a f\*\*\*ing chance, man. I’m here and I’m ready. I want to prove people wrong. So I would love to see that happen."
Daredevil: Born Again continues the story that began on Netflix, which once hosted a smaller-scale Marvel universe including series like Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage. These shows, along with the broader Defenders narrative, are now officially part of the MCU canon and available on Disney+. Jon Bernthal's Punisher, another character from the Netflix series, also appears in Daredevil: Born Again, further solidifying the integration of these characters into the MCU.
