The iconic Master Chief, star of the Halo franchise and a popular Fortnite skin, recently returned to the item shop after a two-year hiatus, much to the delight of fans. However, a controversy quickly arose concerning the Matte Black style, originally offered exclusively to Xbox Series S|X players.
Initially advertised as permanently available, the sudden announcement of its removal sparked considerable backlash. Some players even threatened legal action, believing the change violated established terms. However, Epic Games swiftly reversed its decision within 24 hours.
The Matte Black style will now be granted to all Master Chief skin owners who play a single game on an Xbox Series S|X console. This reversal is widely seen as a positive resolution, particularly given the holiday season. The initial decision was deemed a poor choice given the festive atmosphere.
