HoYoverse is ending official support for Genshin Impact on PlayStation 4.
In a recent announcement, the company expressed gratitude to PS4 players for their ongoing enthusiasm but explained that "hardware performance constraints and platform application size limitations" necessitate the end of updates and support for the RPG on Sony's previous-generation console.
The Genshin Impact phase-out will proceed in three stages: first, the PS4 version will be removed from the PlayStation Store on September 10 (though it remains re-downloadable from your library). Second, in-game purchases will be unavailable starting February 25, 2026. Finally, all support concludes in August 2026.
Fortunately, HoYoverse is providing ample advance notice, allowing PS4 gameplay to continue uninterrupted until August 4, 2026.
PS5 users need not be concerned—this change does not affect them, and Travelers on that platform will continue to access the latest content.
"These updates apply solely to the PS4 version of Genshin Impact," the statement clarified. "We advise PS4 Travelers to migrate to PS5 or another supported platform to maintain their adventure. Your game progress will be preserved. For any questions, please reach out to Genshin Impact Customer Service."
