Slaying monsters is a thrilling part of *Monster Hunter Wilds*, but to fully equip yourself with armor forged from every monster part, you'll also need to master the art of trapping them. This requires specific materials, and here's how you can get Trap Tools in *Monster Hunter Wilds*.
Where to Get Trap Tools in Monster Hunter Wilds
While *Monster Hunter Wilds* doesn't explicitly guide you through trapping monsters or acquiring Trap Tools, if you're familiar with previous games in the series, the process will feel intuitive.
To obtain Trap Tools, head to the Provisions Stockpiler NPC at your Base Camp. Engage in conversation with him and browse his inventory until you find the Trap Tools, priced at 200 Zenny each. It's wise to stock up on these, particularly if your goal is to farm specific monsters or capture a variety of them.
Note that Trap Tools are exclusively available for purchase at Base Camp and cannot be scavenged from the wild like other resources.
How to Use Trap Tools
Once you've acquired your Trap Tools, it's time to utilize them effectively. You can combine them with a Net (crafted using Spiderweb or Ivy) to create a Pitfall Trap, or with a Thunderbug Capacitor to form a Shock Trap.
Both types of traps are effective, but remember that some monsters have resistances. For example, Shock Traps are ineffective against Rey Dau, a lightning dragon that's naturally immune to electric shocks. In such cases, opt for the Pitfall Trap instead.
Keep in mind that you can only carry one Trap item at a time, so use them strategically when the monster is weakened.
That's the complete guide on acquiring and using Trap Tools in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and detailed information on the game, be sure to check out The Escapist.
