In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, the "Canker" side quest is an exciting opportunity to snag a mace or some extra Groschen early on. To embark on this quest, you'll first need to complete "The Jaunt." Here's a detailed guide on how to successfully complete "Canker."
Pick Up the Canker Side Quest

To initiate the "Canker" quest, you need to have a chat with Gules at Semine. It's particularly convenient to start this quest during the wedding of Lord Semine and Agnes. You can approach Gules while he's enjoying a drink before the ceremony and kick off the quest. Alternatively, you can pick it up earlier by finding Gules on patrol in Semine. Strike up a conversation about his former bandit crew and volunteer to help him finish them off. Canker, one of these ex-bandits, becomes your first target.

Once you accept the quest, Canker's location will be marked on your map, just north of Nebakov Mill. Be cautious on your journey there, as the path is often patrolled by bandits who might ambush you. You can choose to sneak past them, engage them in combat, or simply flee if necessary. These random bandits are usually not too challenging, but it's best not to arrive at Canker's camp already weakened from other fights.
Canker's bandit camp is nestled in the mountains, and it's easy to miss because you need to navigate through a narrow gap to reach it, similar to the Hermit's house when retrieving the Hermit's Sword for "Wedding Crashers." Make sure you're ready for a fight before entering, as you'll encounter several bandits alongside Canker. Some bandits may flee depending on the order in which you take them down, but you'll need to eliminate most of them. Fortunately, Canker himself won't run away, so you can focus on defeating him to fulfill the quest's requirement.
Finish the Quest and Return to Gules
After defeating Canker and his crew, loot his body to find the Light Mace, which is essential to prove you've completed the task. Feel free to take any other valuables from him as well. Once you have the mace, head back to Gules to wrap up the "Canker" quest.
After completing "Canker" in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, you'll need to wait a full in-game day before you can pick up the next quest involving Gules' old bandit friends. Once the day has passed, speak to Gules again to start "Handsome Charlie."
