Pokemon TCG Achieves New World Record
The Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) has set a new Guinness World Record by opening an astonishing 20,000 cards in a continuous 24-hour marathon. This remarkable feat was accomplished with the assistance of popular internet personalities and celebrated to mark the release of the latest expansion, Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks.
The Longest Unboxing Livestream to Date
The Pokémon Company shattered the record for the longest unboxing livestream on November 26, 2024. The event, streamed live on Pokémon's Twitch channel, featured renowned figures such as Joe Merrick of Serebii, and influencers PokeGirl Ranch and Mayplaystv. Together, they opened 1,500 booster packs and unveiled a variety of other Pokémon products, ultimately amassing over 20,000 cards.
Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed his pride in this achievement, stating, "It’s been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we’re thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title alongside an amazing team of content creators."
The excitement doesn't end here. The Pokémon Official Press website encourages fans to stay tuned for more product giveaways on content creators' channels over the next two weeks. Additionally, the cards collected during the livestream will be organized into binders and donated to charities, including Barnardo’s in the UK, ahead of the holiday season.
Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks’ Release
Released on November 8, 2024, Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks transports players to the Terarium, the central setting of Pokémon SV’s The Indigo Disk: DLC Part 2. This expansion introduces Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, including the formidable Archaludon ex with its Metal Defender skill.
Fans can also enjoy iconic dragon-type Pokémon such as Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Tatsugiri ex. For a touch of tropical flair, the expansion offers illustration rare and special illustration rare cards featuring Alolan Dugtrio and Feebas, set against serene ocean scenes. New Tera Pokémon ex like Pallossand ex and Flygon ex add exciting options for deck builders.
This latest expansion is also accessible through the Pokémon TCG Live app, where digital players can earn in-game bonuses by collecting and battling with the new Stellar Tera Pokémon ex.
