One of the biggest revelations from Star Wars Celebration confirms Hayden Christensen will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker in Ahsoka Season 2. After this major announcement, we spoke with Christensen about returning to Anakin after nearly two decades, his appreciation for Star Wars' darker themes, and even his favorite Anakin meme.
Exploring More Clone Wars-Era Stories
When asked about other Anakin stories he'd like to portray, Christensen expressed enthusiasm for revisiting Clone Wars-era material. "I'd love to explore more Clone Wars-era stories," he shared. While we've seen brief glimpses in live-action (like Ahsoka's standout scene), most Clone Wars-era Anakin has featured Matt Lanter's voice work.

"Ewan [McGregor] would be game too," Christensen added. "It's such a visually striking period in Star Wars with incredible storytelling potential. Who knows – maybe someday." While acknowledging they'd need some "aging magic" to make it work, Christensen remains eager to continue exploring Anakin's journey.
Reflections on Revenge of the Sith
As Revenge of the Sith approaches its 20th anniversary (May 2025), Christensen reflected on the film's darker tone: "George Lucas made bold choices, but presented them thoughtfully. Take the younglings scene – impactful without being graphic." He added, "I appreciate when Star Wars embraces complex themes."
The Evolution of Playing Anakin
Returning after 20 years brought fresh perspective: "Of course it feels different – I've lived two more decades. Ironically, I feel deeper connection now having had time to analyze Anakin's psychology." Christensen views his return as "a fascinating acting challenge that accounts for this passage of time."
Memes and Movie Watching Order
On the meme culture surrounding Anakin? While he enjoys the classic "sand" meme and pastoral Padmé moments, his current favorite features Palpatine pleading with Anakin during the Mace Windu confrontation.

As for the eternal debate about viewing order? "There's merit to both chronological and release orders," Christensen noted, adding humorously: "I'll need to think carefully before showing my daughter – she's about to see her dad do some pretty intense things."
