Master the Dual Outfit Technique in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered!
This guide details how to combine the benefits of two outfits in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, leveraging the game's transmog feature. Note that this is exclusive to the Remastered version; the original game lacks this functionality.
Remastered Version Required
The dual outfit method relies on the Remastered edition's transmog system, allowing you to visually wear one outfit while retaining the stats and effects of another.
Outfit Requirements
This technique works with one freely chosen outfit and one of these three specific outfits from the Frozen Wilds DLC:
- Banuk Werak Runner
- Banuk Werak Chieftain
- Banuk Werak Chieftain Adept (New Game Plus only)
Access to the Frozen Wilds DLC is necessary, but completing the main game isn't required.
Acquiring the Banuk Werak Outfits
Banuk Werak Runner: Reach the Frozen Wilds by defeating the initial machine (adjust difficulty if needed). Locate a Bluegleam Merchant (blue merchant icon) and purchase the outfit. Resource costs vary by difficulty:
| Resource | Normal Cost | Ultra Hard Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Metal Shards | 1000 | 5000 |
| Desert Glass | 10 | 20 |
| Slagshine Glass | 10 | 20 |
Banuk Werak Chieftain & Chieftain Adept: Complete the "For the Werak" quest (Frozen Wilds' third main quest). Consider lowering the difficulty for easier completion. The Adept version is only available in New Game Plus.
Combining Outfit Effects

- Equip your preferred outfit – the one with the desired stats (enhance stats with Weaves if needed).
- Use the transmog feature to apply the appearance of one of the three Banuk Werak outfits.
This allows you to retain your chosen outfit's stats while gaining the auto-healing effect from the Banuk Werak outfit. The Chieftain and Chieftain Adept offer significantly faster healing than the Runner. Combining this with an outfit like the Shield-Weaver makes you incredibly resilient.
