Marvel's upcoming Vision Quest series is reportedly resurrecting a villain from the very first MCU film, Iron Man.
Deadline reports that Faran Tahir will reprise his role as Raza Hamidmi al-Wazar, the Afghan terrorist leader who held Tony Stark captive in the opening scenes of the 2008 film. This marks a return after nearly two decades. Al-Wazar's betrayal by Obadiah Stane (Jeff Bridges) was a pivotal moment in Iron Man.
While unseen since that initial 30-minute segment, al-Wazar's MCU comeback mirrors Samuel Sterns' (The Incredible Hulk) appearance in Captain America: Brave New World. Details about his role in Vision Quest, starring Paul Bettany as White Vision, remain scarce, with no release date currently announced.

This retroactive inclusion establishes al-Wazar as a Ten Rings commander, potentially creating a narrative bridge between Shang-Chi and Vision Quest. Given the open-ended nature of Shang-Chi, this connection seems plausible.
However, Vision Quest might also follow the path of Deadpool & Wolverine, revisiting and reinterpreting previously overlooked or discarded elements of the MCU's established continuity.
The series will also reportedly feature the return of James Spader as Ultron, his first appearance since Avengers: Age of Ultron, though plot details remain shrouded in mystery.
