In *Fields of Mistria*, you can build friendships with almost everyone, but romance is reserved for a select group of NPCs. With the v0.13.0 update, you can choose a romantic partner from 11 different NPCs, including Caldarus himself.
Each romanceable NPC has a heart meter that increases based on your interactions. To foster a romance with a particular NPC, engage with them regularly and take note of their preferences. Start by **talking to them daily**, which you can do while completing other tasks around town. Regular conversation can significantly boost your relationship. Additionally, fulfill any requests they post on the town board, as this provides more opportunities to increase their heart gauge.
You can also **give them a gift once per day**, ideally something they particularly enjoy or love. These items vary by character and can be gathered or crafted. On their birthday, make sure to give them an item they love, which will significantly boost their heart gauge.
Keep in mind that currently, NPC heart gauges can only reach **six hearts**. After reaching six hearts, a cutscene will suggest a budding romance, but it won't be fully developed yet.
According to the game's roadmap, future updates will include 8 and 10-heart events for romanceable NPCs, along with options for marriage and children. So, your romance in Mistria has plenty of room to grow.
