A New Take On The Classic
THE KING OF FIGHTERS AFK is a departure from the franchise's traditional format. It's an idle RPG, focusing on passive progression and upgrading your Fighters to advance through the game.
In THE KING OF FIGHTERS AFK, your task is to assemble the perfect squad of fighters to conquer various stages. Each fighter contributes distinct strengths and synergies to the team, with some characters empowering each other in battle.
Team-building and "synergy" are central to the gameplay. Every fighter possesses unique synergy traits, such as [Rush], [Fury], [Solid], and others. Specific fighters share Synergy effects that activate powerful bonuses when placed on the same team. Some synergies, marked by yellow icons, increase the damage of particular fighters, while orange icons provide team-wide stat buffs that strengthen your entire squad. There are even rare "Special" synergies, indicated by star icons, that unlock unique, game-changing effects.
The performance gap between a synergistic team and one without is substantial. In many dungeons and stages, synergy can be the deciding factor between success and failure. Take the Blue Doom Colossal battle as an example: simply deploying two fighters with [Rush] synergy grants a massive 1500% damage boost. Adding two [Solid] synergy fighters contributes an additional 750%, resulting in a staggering total increase of 2250%.
Your team will battle through a variety of dungeons. As is typical for idle RPGs, combat unfolds automatically without direct input. Your role isn't to control every move in a fight, but to keep your team optimally equipped and strategically plan your approach to overcome the challenges ahead.
If you find yourself stuck on a particular stage, you may need to upgrade your Fighters or reorganize your lineup to discover new synergies that provide the necessary power boost. Then, you can set them to battle again or simply check back later while focusing on other tasks.
Of course, THE KING OF FIGHTERS AFK offers much more content and game modes to explore, such as Team Battle, Extreme Dojo, and Garden, each utilizing its own specialized deck. Extreme Dojo and Garden, in particular, are compact competitive modes. In Extreme Dojo, players can occupy training spots, while in Garden, players can visit others' spaces to collect flower bouquets. These modes provide engaging, lightweight competitive gameplay.
The Nostalgic Fighters Are Back
THE KING OF FIGHTERS AFK features a roster of iconic and beloved Fighters from the KoF series, reimagined in this new format. They are charmingly rendered as pixel art characters, inspired by the NEOGEO POCKET COLOR sprites from THE KING OF FIGHTERS R-2.
You'll encounter familiar faces like Kyo Kusanagi and Vice, along with multiple variations of each character. The game is set to launch with over 100 distinct fighters, with more planned through future content updates.
In addition to the fighters, there are over 40 different Supporters who provide various forms of assistance. Cosmetic pets are also included, which help enhance your fighters' performance—and they are undeniably adorable.
To celebrate the grand launch, special rewards are available to give you a strong start. By logging in, you'll receive 3,000 Summons, and your first summon guarantees a Legendary fighter, allowing your team to begin its journey with formidable power.
