GAME OF THRONES Prequel Showrunner Teases Key Change

The showrunner of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has detailed a major distinction between this series and the other two Game of Thrones shows.

Scheduled to premiere on HBO Max in January 2026, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms adapts George R. R. Martin's Tales of Dunk and Egg novella trilogy. Set 90 years before the original saga, this story serves as a direct prequel to Game of Thrones.

This launch is a major event for HBO Max, yet it diverges from both Game of Thrones and its predecessor, House of the Dragon, in several fundamental aspects. One key difference is certain to generate immediate discussion among the fan community.
