This development aligns with speculation about the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, which is expected to launch on next-gen consoles.
MGS Master Collection Vol.2 Might Include Metal Gear Solid 4 Remake
In a recent interview with IGN, Konami producer Noriaki Okamura hinted at the inclusion of a Metal Gear Solid 4 remake in the anticipated Master Collection Vol. 2, along with ports for next-gen consoles. When pressed about the possibility of expanding the beloved 2008 title to platforms like the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, Okamura acknowledged the buzz but remained coy about specifics.
"We definitely are aware of this situation with MGS4," Okamura shared with IGN. "Unfortunately, we can't really say too much at the moment with Vol. 1 containing MGS 1-3... you can probably connect the dots! Right now, we are still internally considering what we should be doing for the future of the series. So sorry, we can't really reveal anything at the moment. But stay tuned!"
Fans have long hoped for the game, exclusive to the PS3 since its release, to be included in a future collection. Following the success of last year's Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, which brought remastered versions of the first three games to next-gen platforms including PC and Switch, the possibility of an MGS4 PS5 port seems more promising than ever.
Rumors of an MGS4 remake intensified last year when placeholder buttons for MGS4, MGS5, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker were spotted on Konami's official Metal Gear Solid timeline page. IGN reported that these titles could be part of the yet-to-be-announced Master Collection Vol. 2, although Konami has yet to officially confirm these plans.
Adding fuel to the fire, David Hayter, the English voice actor for Solid Snake, hinted on social media last November about his involvement in a project that seemed to be related to MGS4, further stoking the community's excitement. As of now, Konami has not disclosed the contents or any concrete plans for a highly anticipated MGS4 remake in Master Collection Vol. 2.
