Lies of P's director, Ji-Won Choi, recently treated fans to a heartfelt message—a blend of gratitude and exciting teases for upcoming content. This includes a new DLC and a future sequel for the steampunk Pinocchio-inspired Soulslike game.
Choi's Anniversary Message and DLC Hints
Celebrating Lies of P's one-year anniversary, NEOWIZ released a director's letter expressing appreciation for the game's enthusiastic reception. The letter highlighted the team's dedication to the upcoming DLC, developed amidst the Korean summer heat. Choi emphasized the DLC's aim to build upon the base game's strengths while addressing previously identified issues. He stated a commitment to refining existing successes and improving areas needing further development, acknowledging the challenge of sticking to core principles. The letter also extended gratitude to Team NOUGH and ROUND8 Studio.
A key highlight was the reveal of new concept art depicting P in a snowy location before a lighthouse, hinting at a new, potentially perilous, storyline. Accompanying this was a newly released (although previously composed) musical piece from the DLC's soundtrack, "Lisrim," by onoken. The music video, featuring a character with a clockwork weapon rescuing a captive girl, aligns with the game's aesthetic. NEOWIZ owns the rights to both the song and the accompanying visuals.
DLC Release and Sequel Plans
While a precise release date remains unannounced, NEOWIZ's Q1 2024 Earnings Results project a second-half 2024 launch for the DLC, alongside other titles including The Legend of Heroes: Gagharv Trilogy, Cats & Soup: Malang Town, Cats & Soup: Magic Recipe, and Project IG.
Previous teasers, including an eight-minute video showcasing early concept art of an industrial facility and a shipwreck, offer further glimpses into the DLC's environments. Choi assures fans that their anticipation will be rewarded, although patience is needed. Crucially, the letter confirmed that the DLC represents only the beginning; a full sequel is in development.
